Teen Movie

Join us for a movie about Norm, the polar bear, who is outraged when he finds out his artic home is going to have houses built on it. He and his friends go to New York to talk to the real-estate developer. Popcorn provided while supplies last. You may bring your own snacks and a drink (with lid).

Ready, Set, Code: A Computer Programming Camp

Using a Raspberry Pi computer, students ages 13-18 will learn the basics of the Python programming language (and more!) through engaging projects.

Two four-day sessions are offered. Students may only attend one session and must be able to attend each day for the full time.

Session One: June 27, 29, 30 and July 1 from 1:30-3:30 PM.
Session Two: July 11, 13, 14 and 15 from 1:30-3:30 PM.

Applications are available at the South Side Library and due by June 20 for Session One and July 2 for Session Two.

Central Teen Summer Reading Volunteer Orientation

Central Library is looking for teen volunteers to help with this year's Summer Reading Program! Teen volunteers will help families register for the reading program, assist with children’s programs and help with various tasks.

Students ages 12-18 who want to volunteer at the Central Library during the Summer Reading Program (June 1 - July 16) must attend the Central Library's volunteer orientation. There are two meeting times available. Teens need only attend one.

May the Fourth Be with You!

Celebrate all things Star Wars! First 20 registrants will make Star Wars shaped soap to take home. Non-registered attendees may create lightsabers from paper and cardboard or try making a Star Wars origami character (while supplies last).

Grades 4-12. 5/04 at 2:30-4:00 PM.

Registration required for soap making. Registrants must arrive no later than 3:00 to make soap. Call 515-283-4152 or register online through the Events calendar.

Code Camp Applications

Applications for Registration for Ready, Set, Code!: A Computer Programming Camp are available May 2 – May 7 at the South Side Library and must be returned to the South Side Library by May 7. If spots are still available a second round of applications will be available beginning May 9 – May 14 and must be returned to the South Side Library by May 14.

All applications must be submitted in person.
