Happy Summer! Here at the Des Moines Public Library, the start of summer is official when the Summer Reading program begins. This year, in addition to the children's and teen programs, we're also offering a program for adults. The Book Bingo Challenge begins today (June 9) and is a Bingo card with 25 reading challenges. To participate, pick up a Bingo card and complete one vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line (that’s five spaces), fill out the form with your information and the books you read, and turn the form in to any DMPL location. Turning in your form enters you in a drawing for prizes.

The program runs through Saturday, July 19 and once it's over, each DMPL location will have prize drawings for six $10 gift cards to local bookstores and a grand prize package.

There are a just a few rules to follow:

1) One book can be used to fill only one space, one time.

2) You can complete as many Book Bingo challenges as you would like, but you cannot repeat the same line of challenges.

3) Your name is entered in the drawing for every challenge you complete, but you are only eligible to win ONE prize.

If you're interested in participating, head to any DMPL location to pick up your Book Bingo Challenge card, or go to our Adult Summer Reading page at www.dmpl.org/adult-summer-reading.

You can also check back here, at Books and Beyond, for reading lists and suggestions for the different challenges. So what are you waiting for?! This is a great way to spice up your summer reading, try a new book, have some fun, and maybe even win some prizes. Happy reading!
