Teen Art Expressions with the Des Moines Art Center: Still-Life Drawing

Teens! Have you ever wanted to learn still-life drawing and painting skills? Come to South and participate in a special two-session art project with the Des Moines Art Center for free! With an art instructor, teens will start with a conceptual drawing on July 24th. The final session will be on July 26 where teens will apply paint to their artwork. All materials will be provided. For Teens entering Grades 6-12. Preregistration is required for both sessions. Space is limited.

Teen Summer Volunteer Orientation

Students ages 12-18 wishing to volunteer at the South Side Library during the Summer Reading Program must attend a South Side volunteer orientation. There are two times available. Teens only need to attend one. Applications must be signed by teen and guardian and returned to the South Side Library before orientation. Approved teens will receive a call or email. For more information, visit the South Side Library. Applications will be available on April 24th.

Student Art Exhibition Reception

We will be honoring the students that have taken part in the 2017 Des Moines Arts Festival’s Student Art Exhibition Reception. Students, teachers, and their families will be invited to join us for a short thank you ceremony and presentation of prizes awarded by our sponsor, Hubbell Homes. Students are given the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishment as an artist at the Festival as well as pick up their artwork and/or certificate of participation.
