Code Club is back! Join us for new Raspberry Pi / coding challenges in the new school year: Burping Gummy Bears! Turn a gummy bear into a Raspberry Pi input device and create a simple program to make it burp when it's squeezed!

Previous coding experience is not necessary. For ages 10 and up.

Groups of four or more are requested to e-mail jmstolz@dmpl.org a day or more before the event.

Paper Circuit Skulls

Add some flash (literally) to a Day of the Dead skull design by making a battery-powered paper circuit that lights up an LED. Paper circuits are a popular, hands-on way to get creative while you explore the basics of electricity and how circuits function.

Savoring Iowa's Culinary History

During a fun, interactive program, Darcy Dougherty Maulsby serves up fascinating tidbits and cooking tips related to more than 150 years of Iowa cuisine and ethnic food traditions, from all corners of the state. “From Iowa originals like Maid-Rites to kolaches to homemade cinnamon rolls—served with chili, of course—there are many remarkable stories behind Iowa’s tastiest traditions,” said Maulsby, a Lake City native and lifelong Iowan who has been featured in the Iowa History Journal, Our Iowa magazine, Iowa Public Radio and more.
