Teen Summer Volunteer Orientation

Students ages 12-18 wishing to volunteer at the South Side Library during the Summer Reading Program must attend a South Side volunteer orientation. There are two times available. Teens only need to attend one. Applications must be signed by teen and guardian and returned to the South Side Library before orientation. Approved teens will receive a call or email. For more information, visit the South Side Library. Applications will be available on April 24th.

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention

Join us for a Tai Chi class with instructor Jan Bennett. This class will specialize in arthritis and falls prevention, and can be done standing or seated. The program is beginner friendly and requires no experience with Tai Chi.

Tai Chi is a holistic form of exercise that promotes flowing movements and mind/body harmony. Tai Chi is sometimes called a "moving meditation." As participants concentrate on doing the movements they often forget about their normal, everyday concerns. Tai Chi is a slower paced, non-contact martial arts movements.

Teen Life: How To Fill Out a Job Application

Teens! Do you know what information to add on a paper or online job application? Students in Grades 6-12 will learn the do's and don'ts of filling out job applications and learn how important it is to have appropriate e-mail addresses and phone messages. Afterwards, teens will practice their skills by filling out a job application! Snacks will be provided. No registration required.

Teen Life: How To Look for a Job

Teens! Do you know where (and how) to look for a job? Students in Grades 6-12 are invited to South to learn how to look for a job!
Hy-Vee's Human Resources Director Abbie Olson will share tips with teens on where to search for jobs. Participants will also learn informational interview skills and more! Snacks will be provided. No registration required.
