We're moving to a New Overdrive Service for E-Books and E-Audio!

Effective June 1, DMPL will begin a new e-book and e-audio service powered by Overdrive. The library has long been part of the WILBOR consortium service, also powered by Overdrive, but that partnership is coming to an end. The library has had four different services powering e-books, e-audio and magazines, and it has become prohibitively expensive to pay platform fees for all services. Learning just one platform will also make things much easier for customers. Starting with a Consortium was fine years back when e-books and e-audio were brand new on the market, but now the cities of Des Moines and Windsor Heights have different needs and reading preferences than do the rest of the state. As we begin the new service powered by Overdrive, the first of the old platforms to drop off will be the 3M Cloud Library. All of the books in the 3M Cloud Library will be moved over to the new service powered by Overdrive, and we hope to make the transition as smooth as possible. Please call the Virtual Library at 283-4152 with any questions you may have, or attend one of our Free Advice for Your Device classes (pre-register using our online calendar here).
