Navigate your way through Medicare coverage options with help from our friends at Freedom Home Health Care. Learn about the differences between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantages and find out about Medicare’s prescription drug coverage and supplemental coverage. A licensed nurse will answer your questions and help you determine the coverage you need, and you’ll have an information packet to take home as well!

There will also be a healthy snack. This program is presented by Freedom Home Health Care.

AViD Presents: Russell Shorto

Russell Shorto is an American author, historian, and journalist. Shorto writes narrative history – that is, history in story-based form. His focuses on how history impacts people in the stories; as he says about his books, “I believe history is most meaningful to us when it manifests itself through individuals in conflict.” Shorto has written six books in all, and he’s most well-known for The Island at the Center of the World, a book about the founding of Manhattan by Dutch colonists.

Stephanie Powell Watts is the author of the novel No One Is Coming to Save Us, as well several short stories. Watts’ debut story collection, We Are Taking Only What We Need, won the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence in 2012. The collection was also named one of the best summer reads in 2013 by O: The Oprah Magazine. Watts grew up in North Carolina, attended college at UNC-Charlotte, and got her PhD from the University of the Missouri. She is now a professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.

Amor Towles is the best-selling author of two critically-acclaimed novels. His debut novel, Rules of Civility, was published in 2011. It was named one of the best books of the year by The Wall Street Journal and has been translated to more than fifteen languages. Towles grew up in Boston and was an investment banker for more than twenty years. The success of Rules of Civility led to his decision to leave the investment world and devote himself full-time to writing.

AViD Presents: John Lescroart

John Lescroart is the bestselling author of several mystery novels. He’s best known for a series of detective novels centering on the adventures of attorney Dismas Hardy, his friends, and his coworkers in the San Francisco area. Lescroart was born in Houston, Texas, but moved to the Bay Area as a child. He eventually graduated from the University of California-Berkley with an English degree. After working several different jobs for more than twenty years, he became a full-time writer in 1994 and has since published more than twenty books.
