AViD Presents Jon Ronson

April 12th, 7:00pm to 8:00pm

The Des Moines Public Library is excited to announce this year’s full lineup for our Authors Visiting in Des Moines (AViD) lecture series! Now in its 17th year, AViD is a highly acclaimed, free lecture series that connects world-famous authors with an audience from across the state.

On Wednesday, April 12, Jon Ronson will take the stage at Drake University's Sheslow Auditorium. Ronson is a Welsh nonfiction author, documentary maker and screenwriter. He’s written ten books, including the best-sellers The Psychopath Test, The Men Who Stare at Goats, and his newest book, So You’ve Been Publically Shamed, which looks at public shaming as an internet phenomenon and examines the effects the events have had on those who’ve been shamed.

Ronson regularly contributes to the Guardian and BBC Radio 4, where his series Jon Ronson On... has been shortlisted for Sony awards four times. In the United States, Jon is a regular contributor to This American Life, GQ, the New York Times Book Review, and has appeared at TED and on The Daily Show.
