An evening with Azeri-American, Sadagat Aliyeva, author of "We the Interwoven"

December 4th, 6:00pm to 7:00pm
Sadagat Aliyeva always had a burning desire for freedom. She was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, during the Soviet era of stagnation. Thirteen years ago, her family came to the United States and began a new life in Des Moines. She began writing stories, including mystical folktales. These stories changed her life after she was chosen to participate in the inaugural Bicultural Iowa Writers’ Fellowship.

Join us for an evening of cultural conversation, diverse discoveries and artistic inspiration, as Sadagat shares her life and her writing journey. She’ll also share her stories from We the Interwoven, an anthology of stories from immigrant, first-generation, and second-generation Iowans.

Information about the book and about Bicultural Writers' Fellowship, Iowa's first residency for immigrants and bicultural writers, can be found at: http://www.iowawritershouse.org/biwf/
