Universal Declaration of Human Rights 70th Anniversary

Seventy years ago, December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a document promising all people freedom of speech, of worship, from want, and from fear. Debra L. DeLaet, Professor of Political Science, Drake University will give an overview of the Declaration, its influence on international human rights law, and ways everyday citizens can advance the cause of these rights.
As part of this 70th anniversary celebration, Franklin Avenue Library will host a display of posters provided by the Iowa United Nations Association from November 19th – December 7th.
