Hip Hop 101

The Des Moines Music Coalition is bringing their hip hop camp to the North Side Library! This camp, for ages 11-15, covers the basics of hip hop, including songwriting and beats writing. The Teen Spot!

Wednesday 2:00 pm
Teens (grades 6-12) are invited to hang out in the Teen Spot every Wednesday from 2-3 PM. Work on homework, socialize with friends, and munch on snacks. The space is yours with laptops, games, snacks, and crafts for an hour. Teens are invited to stay for the teen program from 3-4 PM.

Jedi Training Academy

Han Solo may not be a Jedi, but don’t let that stop you from being one! We’re celebrating the release of the newest Star Wars movie by training everyone on the ways of The Force. Help free Han Solo from his frozen prison, ride in a spaceship, and create your own light saber! We must account for our young
Padawans, so please preregister for this event. You can do so by calling 283 4152 ext. 3 or by going to dmpl.org. May The Force be with you!

Our friend Brian Webb is back! Brian came to the North Side Library in February to teach patrons how to use free library resources and achieve health, fitness, and wellness goals. He’s back again to check in on how people are progressing and to share more secrets. He’ll also help out those that may have missed the first workshop, presenting tips and tricks on how the library can enhance your health.
