Adventure Pass Ending in 2025

Due to circumstances outside of our control, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass service will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

What's Happening at Your DMPL (01/21-01/27)

Despite being closed today for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we still have programs happening each day this week at the library.  We have just a sampling of programs below; be sure to go to our online events calendar for a full listing of programs. You can also sign up for our email newsletter, where you'll learn more about events and programs, book suggestions, and more.

ON THE BLOG:

DMPL Blog graphic

Avoid the bitter cold temperatures this week. We have great winter-themed books for you to enjoy on the blog Wednesday. That way, you’ll be able to drink a warm cup of cocoa under a blanket while enjoying all the perks of winter on the page.

On Friday, we’ll meet Kate Young, at the Franklin Avenue Library. Kate is a librarian and is the group leader of one of Franklin’s book clubs. Her regular patrons have so much trust in her that they call her from local bookstores to get recommendations on gifts and purchases.

Don’t forget to check out what we had on the blog last week. On Tuesday, we had a podcast with Paul Kix, Iowa native and author of The Saboteur. He discussed the incredible life of Robert de La Rochefoucauld, a French aristocrat-turned-resistance fighter during World War II. On Wednesday (nonfiction) and Friday (fiction), we discussed books coming out in 2019 that we’re looking forward to. Be sure to take a look and get your holds in before they get hot.
