The DMPL offers free notary public services by appointment. Our notaries are not attorneys licensed to practice law in this state. They are not allowed to draft legal documents, give advice on legal matters, including immigration, or charge a fee for notary services.
Notaries will notarize a maximum of 2 documents per person per day.
Notaries will not notarize: I-9 forms; copies of birth or death certificates, marriage or divorce records, other court records.
What you need for your notary appointment:
- A valid picture ID
- If required, a witness or witnesses, who will require their own ID
