News You Can Trust

Read news that you can trust with your Des Moines Public Library card. Your card gives you free, digital access to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and dozens of news magazines. Follow the instructions below to take advantage of what your library card offers.

Logging in to NYTimes.com:

  • All Des Moines Public Library card holders may use The New York Times online.
  • Click the Redeem link on the next page to access NYTimes.com and the New Times mobile app on iOS and Android. (See screenshot below)

  • Login in or register to begin using your new license. New accounts can be created using your Google or Facebook accounts, or by using your email address and a password.
  • If you haven't created an account with NYtimes.com, you can create one with Google, Facebook, or your email address.
  • When the 72-hour license expires, return to dmpl.org/nytimes to begin using another one.
The Wall Street Journal

Logging in to WSJ.com

  • All Des Moines Public Library card holders may use The Wall Street Journal online.
  • After clicking "View Wall Street Journal," enter your library card number and PIN.
  • Login into your WSJ account using your email and password. If you have not created an account yet, create one.
  • You will see a page that says "Redemption successful." Click "OK, Let's Go" at the bottom of that page to go to The Wall Street Journal home page.
  • When the 72-hour license expires, return to dmpl.org/wsj to begin using another one.
The Washington Post

Logging in to WashingtonPost.com

  • All Des Moines Public Library card holders may use The Washington Post online.
  • After clicking "View The Washington Post Online," enter your library card number and PIN.
  • Login into your Washington Post account using your email and password. If you have not created an account yet, create one.
  • When the 7-day license expires, return to dmpl.org/washington-post to begin using another one.

eMagazines

Use Libby to read dozens of news eMagazines!  

You must reside in Des Moines, Windsor Heights, or Saylor Township to use Libby. More information is available at dmpl.org/emagazines.
