Adventure Pass Ending in 2025

Due to circumstances outside of our control, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass service will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Event Details

The Art of Expression is a monthly program for teens to learn and create different types of art in a relaxed atmosphere.

On September 25, join us for a 2-hour Calligraphy Workshop with local artist and entrepreneur Tome Hope. Teens will learn basic brush work calligraphy and try their hand at dip brush work. All registrants get to keep the supplies provided. Read below about our guest artist.

Tome Hope started her calligraphy journey at the University of Iowa over 20 years ago. She began her calligraphy business, Ink & Oak, in 2013. She provides lettering services for events and commissions, teaches at the Des Moines Art Center, and teaches out of her studio in the Mainframe Arts building. She is a member of the Chicago Calligraphy Collective and the Lettering Arts Alliance of the Midwest.
