Adventure Pass Changes in 2025

Due to software issues affecting all libraries using the service, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass program will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Take a closer look at a bird not everyone knows very well and how we are making Des Moines a better place for the bluebird to live. We’ll look at history, actions taken, and what we are doing to help Bluebirds in Des Moines. Joel Van Roekel, Supervisor of Environmental Education for Des Moines Parks and Recreation, is the presenter.

Joel works within the Des Moines Parks and Recreation department providing activities based on nature, conservation, and education.  He helps people make a connection the to nature in our Des Moines Parks and in their own backyard. Joel uses art, technology, science, curiosity and any other medium to educate and help make people aware of their environment and the cool things that live there.
