Event Details
We look forward to having you join us for the Container Gardening: You Can Grow Your Own Food Program! The program will be held on Monday, June 7th starting at 6 PM in the Meeting Room at Franklin Ave. Library. We'll then move to Franklin Field, the green space by the Franklin Community Gardens and the Northwest Community Center, just west of the Franklin Ave. Library. There will be some seating available at picnic benches, but please bring your own chair if you want to make sure you can sit while planting. Our presenter, Kalsa Parker Browning will share information about growing your own food and composting. Then she'll help you get your herb or vegetable planted so you can take it home.
We will provide all materials you'll need, but please choose between these two options: herbs or a vegetable. If you'd like to bring your own container, please indicate that when you make your choice of plant (2 qt. for herbs; at least 2 gal for veg.).
Kalsa is a graduate of Iowa State University where she studied environmental science. After graduation she primarily worked in outdoor education and recreation, getting people outside and in-touch with the world around them. She has worked with ISU Extension and Outreach in Polk County since 2017 where she primarily coordinates the Master Gardener volunteer program, and the newly-relaunched Master Conservationist program.
