All DMPL locations will be closed on Sunday, April 20 for the Easter holiday. Regular hours and services will resume on Monday, April 21.

North Side Construction - Detour Route

Ongoing construction on Euclid Avenue may limit the ability to access the North Side Library parking lot from the north. If you're visiting the North Side Library, you may reach the parking lot from the south by traveling on Ovid Ave. and then turning north onto 5th Ave. Please see the North Side Library page for a diagram.

Event Details

Monarch Butterflies are especially attracted to the nectar of the native Iowa plants. Joel Van Roekel, Supervisor of Environmental Education, Des Moines Parks and Recreation, will show us how to tag and release Monarch Butterflies with fun activities and games! Bring the entire family together early in the evening for stories, songs and occasional crafts. It's a great way for busy parents to relax and listen to stories with their children. You can even wear your jammies!
