Program Description

Event Details

Everyone has great family stories, but many times listeners don't get the humor, history, or moral in them. This workshop will tell you how to chronicle stories, use your six senses to create descriptions and who to tell the stories too. We will all create at least one family tale from a pattern. If we have time two patterns will be learned and two stories written.  Those who wish can tell their story to the group for coaching and evaluation.

Maureen Korte has collected and told stories worldwide.  This presenter is known for her Irish tales, as that is her ancestry, but she tells every kind of story from every culture to every age and type of audience.  She tells at festivals, schools, businesses and many other venues across the US.  Maureen is also a play write, works under commissions, is an actress and produces fine arts performances.  During her career in theater, she started and managed the educational theater season at the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. For eight and a half years she directed, produced, and endowed the History Through the Arts Theater Program for the State of Iowa, while producing other theater programs and events at the Iowa State Historical Museum.  She worked for CultureAll, training ambassadors and creating programs for schools, the public and businesses.

She and her husband live in Ankeny, with their dog, Finn McCool, who is named after the great Irish Giant in Irish folklore.
