Katie Das, Des Moines Regional Coordinator with Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT), will share information on SILT's vision to rebuild Iowa’s diversified landscape to include farms of all sizes, production methods and crops, including fresh, naturally-grown food for human consumption. During this program, participants will learn about the purpose and function of a land trust, gain a better understanding of sustainable agriculture and local food systems, as well as strategies for strengthening local food systems using conservation easements in Des Moines. Das is a graduate from Drake University with a degree in Environmental Sustainability and Resilience, and Law, Politics, and Society. She works on a variety of projects, including land acquisition/protection, outreach, and land access for historically underserved farmers.
