Event Details
Do you get anxious when your cellphone dies or you forget it at home? Do you find yourself looking at a screen while spending time with your friends or family? This program will give you an inside look at the techniques technology developers use to keep you glued to your screen. Concepts used to motivate you to look at your phone when it vibrates or makes a sound; or make it hard to stay focused on one task when there are so many other things on the Internet; why it’s easy to subscribe for a service or make an online purchase regardless if you need it, will be discussed. Anna Slavina, PhD is a lecturer at Grand View University and will be a lecturer in the psychology department at Iowa State University in the Fall.
