Adventure Pass Ending in 2025

Due to circumstances outside of our control, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass service will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Tippi Toes is coming back to the library!

Our exciting, high energy dance classes are the perfect opportunity for kids to try something new while having a blast and burning some energy! Any child between the ages 2-10 can participate.

Central Parking

Free library parking is available in Central's underground parking garage for two hours per visit. Parking around the library is metered at various costs from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Children’s Program

Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by a caregiver over 12 years old.

PAWS and Read with Therapy Dogs

PAWS and Read with therapy dogs from Dog Training Elite here in Des Moines. We will also have supplies to make a DIY braided dog toy, while supplies last.

No matter the planning, you always have too much of the wrapping paper that you don't need for any given event. Bring your rolls of wrapping paper, gift bags, etc. to South Side Library and find just the right paper for your gifts this year!
