Adventure Pass Changes in 2025

Due to software issues affecting all libraries using the service, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass program will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Former U.S. Navy SEAL Jack Carr is the #1 New York Times best-selling author of tense military and political thrillers. His debut novel, 2018’s The Terminal List, was adapted into the 2022 #1 Amazon Prime Video series starring Hollywood star Chris Pratt as Navy SEAL James Reece.

Carr’s new novel, Only the Dead, was released in May and continues the James Reece saga, as he is on a mission to take down a global conspiracy that seems ripped from modern headlines. Carr retired from active military duty in 2016, and is also the host of the popular Danger Close Podcast.

The program will be moderated by Jeff Angelo, former Iowa State Senator and current host of the popular Newsradio 1040 WHO show, Need to Know with Jeff Angelo.

NOTE: In lieu of a book signing, attendees will have the opportunity to enter a photo line after the program to have a professional photo taken with the author. Signed books will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Beaverdale Books.
