Welcome Windsor Heights!

Windsor Heights Now

Hello Windsor Heights residents! As of July 1, you are now part of the Des Moines Public Library system, the largest public library system in the state. We'd like to welcome you!

If you're already a DMPL card holder, you know all about our massive catalog of books, audiobooks, DVDs, and CDs, totaling more than 500,000 items. DMPL cardholders that reside in Windsor Heights are now all-access cardholders, with access to absolutely everything that the Des Moines Public Library has to offer.

So what does it mean to be a all-access user?

Digital Card

Digital Card

First, let's start with signing up. If you don't have a DMPL card already, you can sign up for a digital card!  These cards will give you access to our digital collection throughout our public closure. Users will receive a PIN and library card number via email, which they can use to place holds, use digital resources, and pick up books. When we reopen, you may come in and get a physical library card.

eBooks and eAudiobooks

Libby

The Des Moines Public Library has a large digital collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks. Using Libby, RBDigital, and other platforms, our librarians cultivate this collection based specifically on our audience, including taking suggestions, checking in on holds and requests to keep wait times down, following industry trends, and more. If you're new to any of these apps, check out our eBook and eAudiobook guide to learn more.

Streaming Video

Kanopy

With your Des Moines Public Library card, you now have access to Kanopy, our streaming video service. Kanopy is a film fan's dream, with tens of thousands of films, including recent award winning movies, arthouse classics, international films and fascinating documentaries.

In addition to Kanopy, you'll have access to a wide breadth of streaming video options through RBDigital.
