Adventure Pass Ending in 2025

Due to circumstances outside of our control, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass service will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

7 Days, 7 Events at Your DMPL (01/07-01/13)

Happy Monday! The Des Moines Public Library is open for a full week this week, and we're excited about everything going on. We have just a sampling of programs below; be sure to go to our online events calendar for a full listing of programs. You can also sign up for our email newsletter, where you'll learn more about events and programs, book suggestions, and more.

ON THE BLOG:

Did you see the new mural at the Forest Avenue Library? Take a peak at the photos on our blog post from last Friday. Jen Thomas, a library assistant at Forest, gave us the low-down at how this awesome piece of art came to be. Credit to local artist Bill Barnes for creating the mural. We also shared some new releases coming out this month. Be sure to get your holds in now, as these are the books everyone will be buzzing about.

Tomorrow is a big day. We'll be announcing the 2019 Authors Visiting in Des Moines (AViD) lineup. This will be the 19th season of AViD, and the library is thrilled with this year's lineup. Past authors have included Steve Berry, Janet Evanovich, and Amor Towles, among others. Keep your eyes peeled to the website, our social media channels, and the blog to find out what six authors are visiting Des Moines.

The rest of the week is all about New Year's Resolutions. Wednesday, we'll share our staff's reading-related New Year's resolutions. Friday, we'll have a list of books that will help you stay motivated and keep your New Year's resolutions, whatever they may be.
