Adventure Pass Changes in 2025

Due to software issues affecting all libraries using the service, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass program will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Read FREE eMagazines

eMagazines

It used to be you would subscribe to a half-dozen magazines, and you'd get creative as to where they were stashed. On the bedside table, under the coffee table, by the bathroom sink ... and they stacked up fast.

These days, that stack stays small, no matter how many magazines you want read. That's because you can read them all on your phone, tablet, or laptop with your Des Moines Public Library card! We now have more than 3,200 eMagazine titles available to read for free.

Libby

Libby has more than 3,200 magazine titles, including the entire collection that was previously located on RBDigital. On Libby, you'll find titles like National Geographic, Food Network Magazine, Newsweek, Us Weekly, and so much more.

When you read eMagazines on Libby, there are no holds and no checkout limits, with up to three years' worth of back issues where available. Best of all, eMagazines do not count against the 10 checkout limit patrons have in Libby. So check out all the eMagazines you want while continuing to read eBooks and listen to eAudiobooks.

Libby replaces RBDigital as the app that houses our largest collection of eMagazines. Patrons will have access to magazine issues they previously borrowed via RBDigital. Any patron who previously borrowed ZINIO magazines from RBdigital will be able to access their historical magazine loans by either downloading the free ZINIO app or going to zinio.com. From the ZINIO app or website, patrons can register a new ZINIO account using the same email address they used to access RBdigital. Once registered, their previously borrowed ZINIO magazine loans will be available in their account. Unlike RBDigital, eMagazines in Libby do not auto-renew or auto-checkout.

Residency restrictions do apply to Libby: You must live in Des Moines, Windsor Heights, or Saylor Township to use it.
