Adventure Pass Ending in 2025

Due to circumstances outside of our control, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass service will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Event Details

Nate Evans will share his spark story—or what inspired him to step up and make Des Moines a better place to live.  Nate founded Woodworking with a Purpose which makes and donates desks and furniture to families in need.  When many schools moved online during the pandemic, Nate set a goal to build 2,020 free desks for families in the community during the 2020-2021 school year; his organization surpassed that goal and completed 2,143 desks before June of 2021.  In May 2021, Woodworking with a Purpose began building hope chests for foster kids in Iowa.  He is a teacher and married father of four living in Ankeny, Iowa.  He is also a published author; his book, A Weight Lifted, is available at the Des Moines Public Library.
